Playlist Update Monday Ep. 13

Something to look forward to on Mondays

My Thought Process Behind This

It’s Monday again and it’s playlist update time. In this week’s episode we will explore music, that could be given an umbrella term “cute bass” (I completely made that up xd). The list contains a mix of trap and future riddim, with a little sprinkle of cuteness in the form of high-pitched vocals. Get ready, if that sounds interesting to you and let’s gooo!

This whole thing started when I reacted to Leotrix’s remix of TiK ToK by Ke$ha on my YouTube channel. Eventually, I realized how dope the track was and started looking for the full version. I was so happy when I found it uploaded on YouTube.

That was just the start tho. The very first link under that video mentioned, that 100 gecs played this track in their Boiler Room set. I thought it was f**king cool because it confirmed my theory that hyperpop and bass music (especially genres like future riddim and trap) go well together.

After adding the TiK ToK remix as the first track of this episode. I watched an interview with Leotrix, where he mentioned one of his biggest inspirations Sam Gellaitry. I figured his music would be a great fit for this, so I looked him up and found something matching the style I was going for. I also added some more trap and future riddim tracks with a “cute” vibe. That’s pretty much how this episode came together.

About the nightcore track, I know it is kiiinda random, but hear me out! In one of their interviews, 100 gecs said, that they listened to a LOT of nightcore when they were kids and that it shaped their style in a way. I can’t tell you exactly why, but I feel that nightcore and these relatively new electronic genres have something in common. You have to admit, it just belongs to this list.

Note: I find this “cute bass” style pretty interesting, not gonna lie. You can defo expect similar PUM episodes in the future. I am also going for a cute-bass-inspired sound in some of the music I am currently working on, so stay tuned!

Tracklist

So, you have something new to listen to during this week.

Note: Don’t forget to add these to your playlist!

Exclusive Spotify Playlist

This playlist is my baby. I cultivate it all the time and add new discoveries as well as the tracks from this series. It’s basically a representation of this series and my music taste in general. Haters will say my selection is questionable, but they just don’t get it. If you know, you know. The title says it all. That’s all I’m gonna say.

Here you go. Even more tracks to listen to. Thank me later 🙂

Note: What do you think about all this? Let me know in the comments! I read all of them.
