Vinyla Awards
I submitted the track “Bad Nice Boy” for the 2024 Bastl Electronic Track Award at the Vinyla Awards. In the end, I didn’t win the award, but the award jury evaluated the track with these words:
“One of the most interesting entries in the competition, this track deserves attention not only for its technically polished production but also for its catchiness. Considering Nickname Not Available has only been on the scene for a few months and just released his debut EP, his submission comes across as surprisingly confident. With ease, flair, and a sense of humor, he blends pop melodies with hyperpop influences and trap elements — yet none of these components overpower the others. The result is a cleverly crafted modern pop song that works thanks to its simplicity and rich sonic details. Not least, the artist’s relaxed vocal delivery also deserves praise.”
The Vinyla Award is an annual Czech music prize that celebrates innovative and progressive contributions to the music scene, recognizing artists, albums, and projects that push creative boundaries. It aims to support original and forward-thinking music across genres, with a strong emphasis on artistic integrity and cultural impact.

Backstory
When I started making bass music 2 years ago, I noticed that a little too much of the electronic music out there is bland and hollow, just DJ tools with no deeper meaning. Not even trying to convey a message or emotion. When I heard this Alison Wonderland Forbes interview, I realized it doesn’t have to be that way.
From that point on, all I wanted to do was make electronic music that meant something. That’s how the idea behind this EP was born. When I started making it, I did a lot of the work on it while on a bus, so I decided to embrace it and make electronic music people can dance to at a festival but also listen to on a long bus drive.
A lot has happened in my life throughout those 2 years I made the EP, but the process of making it gave it all a purpose and direction for me to go in life. That’s why I am even happier to be able to present this thing I made to you. I hope it will make you feel something. What exactly it will be is up to you.
