Good Music Flavor vol. 1 / by Nickname Not Available

Hey, it’s Nick (aka “Nickname Not Available”) You probably have no idea who the f*ck I am, nice to meet you tho. Let me introduce myself real quick. I am basically the person behind this website and the YouTube channel. I do all sorts of things from DJing to modeling, but I think the best way to put it is that I just like to make things. If you’ll stick around you’ll see. But, enough about me, let’s get to the actual post!

For the cover of this Good Music Flavor series, I let AI create this image. I know it’s strange, but it’s kinda cool at the same time.

Besides the other posts and videos, I wanted to create a more structured series of posts. That’s why (and also inspired by VOGUElist by NobodyListen series and Niko Yait’s 2020 Spotify playlist video) I decided to start a music recommendations series called “Good Music Flavor”. This is the first post of the series.

What can you expect from it? Around 100 000 new songs are being released every single day. Some of them are masterpieces, but definitely not all of them. Take GMF as some kind of music filter. What I’m gonna do, is each week I will put out a post with the best music I discovered. Mostly new songs no one knows yet, but you will love them when you hear them. Sometimes I will also remind you of an older banger.

It’s not gonna be about the music you hear everywhere here. I will make discovering new music easier for you by doing the research for you. All you need to do then is to pick what you like from my selection.

If you are into discovering new music consider subscribing with your email. I will then send you an email when the next post is out. You won’t have to search my website each time, you can just go to your inbox and within one click you will have music to listen to for the whole next week. And you will have the same option the week after that…

Without further ado, here is something to add to your playlist for the week:

First, I would like to tell you how I found these dope tracks. I’ll also tell you about some of the songs and why exactly did I pick them. At the bottom of the post, there is a clear list and a Spotify playlist so that you can listen to the playlist in its entirety.

With this volume of GMF, I wanted to go for a different alternative sound. And, as much as I wanted to present you with the music of unknown artists, I decided to make this playlist a mix of those and some popular artists. Hopefully that way the playlist will not be boring and you won’t turn it off after the 3rd track.

I found the majority of the tracks in alternative Spotify playlists. I also went on Reddit and searched for similar tracks to those popular ones I also put in there. I searched for tracks similar production-wise. A great method for finding something dope for the playlist also was to take a look at what tracks inspired the artists to make popular tracks with the feel I was looking for. For example, I found a list of tracks that inspired Billie Eilish’s “xanny” and few of them fit the list very well.

If you were to listen to just one track only, I would insist on you listening to “ANIMAL” by PVRIS. It’s a relatively new song. It literally sum’s up the energy of the whole playlist. If someone asked me to tell me what is this playlist I would not say a thing and play them this track instead.

From one of my favorite artists Alison Wonderland I picked the track “Eyes Closed” from her new album “Loner”, which is also featured in the soundtrack of the upcoming Need for Speed Unbound.

How does the Kanye West skit fit in this? Earlier I said that I went for an alternative sound with this. This Kanye skit represents an alternative lifestyle. It may not necessarily fit genre-wise, but the meaning of it fits perfectly.

I hope it’s listenable. As varied as the interprets are, I tried my best to make the playlist as cohesive as possible. I hope this will meet your expectations.

Here is a clear list of all the tracks:

  1. Kid Cudi – Beautiful Trip (Intro)
  2. Fousheé – spend the money (feat. Lil Uzi Vert)
  3. Billie Eilish – xanny
  4. Yael Naim – Toxic
  5. Isabel LaRosa – HEAVEN
  6. SLUMBERJACK – Afraid, Unafraid feat. Sydnee Carter
  7. Nessa Barret – tired of California

  10. The Weeknd – The Hills (RL Grime Remix)
  11. Kanye West – School Spirit Skit 1 (Skit)

Please, feel free to tell me your opinions & recommendations in the comments. You can also ask me basically anything. I try to respond to every single comment.

I also made a Spotify version of the playlist for easier listening:

PS. I treat creating and sharing the playlist as if it was a music album or something. I picked it up from Mike Majlak who curates fantastic playlists. The way he treats his playlists and shares them with people is close to me. I decided to do it similarly. Take a look at these Twitter posts of Mike!

Bookmark this page so you don’t miss the next Good Music Flavor post!

That’s it. If you are still reading I would just like to thank you for reading this all the way through. I hope you found something to add to your next week’s playlist. Have a nice day 🙂
